Peter has almost 40 years of experience in the international energy business, and has always been early starting with the US EPA to get the lead out of gasoline in 1976, co-writing an Environmental Impact Statement for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) in 1978, helping set up the allocation procedures for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in the mid 1970s, assisting in the creation of the first demand side management (energy efficiency) programs in the mid 1980s in New York, working on energy efficiency programs at the World Trade Center and NY/NJ Port Authority Facilities in 1992-93 as well as their greenhouse gas advisor in 2008, and consulting to Toyota's development team on the Prius in 1997-98. He has focused on climate change and global warming issues since 1990. He is the author of 16 books on energy and environmental financial markets. His latest book for Oxford University Press is entitled Energy and Environmental Project Finance Law and Taxation:New Investment Techniques. Peter was head of energy consulting at ABB Financial Services where he was responsible for business strategy, natural gas, smart grid, due diligence and IT solutions. Former employers includes Petroleos de Venezuela, the US Department of Energy and the NYC Mayor's Energy & Telecommunications Office. He worked as consultant's consultant to Deloitte Touche Capital Markets group in New York in the mid 1990s as well as Monitor Group more recently. Peter was partner to cleantech venture capital firm, Energy and Environment Capital Partners LLC in 2002-2003.

Today, Peter is either a Board member or Advisory Board member to several cleantech startups. Peter is on the Advisory Board of the ERB Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise, Ross School of Business, University of Michigan (www.erb.umich.edu). He was board member of the NYU Energy Forum for 12 Years as well as Council Member for the International Association for Energy Economics for 3 years and President of the New York Chapter for over 10 years. He is a member of Professional Risk Management Association (PRMIA), New York Academy of Sciences, and Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). Peter is active with Carnegie-Mellon University's Steinbrenner Institute for Environmental Education and Research. In the spring of 2005, he launched Forum on Energy and Environment which is focused on accelerating knowledge transfer on energy and environmental issues to students, academics, and the business community in New York City. Peter launched the Green Salon in the Fall of 2008 and the Global Change Foundation in May 2009.

Peter is a member of SJF Expert Network, and is a Fellow of the Governance & Accountability Institute. Peter is now an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and teaches a course on Renewable Energy Project Finance each Fall. He is also Entrepreneur in Residence for NYSERDA program called High Tech Rochester's Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) program.

Peter is a member of the board of Carbon Trade Exchange in Austrailia, and on the advisory boards of Business Venture Partners (an Irish cleantech venture captal fund), Fulcrum Solar, Geo Investors Fund, the Center for Environmental Leadership & Innovation, Cleantech Law Partners, and Atmos Air Solutions.
